The greetings Initial Stage setting in the Click to Chat plugin defines how the greetings dialog behaves when users visit the website — whether the dialog appears automatically or stays hidden until user interaction or specific actions triggered.
To Set this Navigate to Click to Chat → Greetings → Additional Settings → Initial Stage

Available Modes

1. Preset Mode
Behavior:
- The greetings dialog automatically opens on desktop devices for immediate visibility.
- On mobile devices, the dialog remains closed by default to maintain a distraction-free experience.
Best for:
- Optimizing user experience based on device type.
- Ensuring seamless engagement on desktops while keeping mobile navigation clean.
2. Open Mode
Behavior:
- The greetings dialog is initially visible when a user visits the website.
- If the user closes the dialog, it remains hidden until user manually reopen it or trigger greeting actions (e.g., time delay, scroll event).
Best for:
- Providing instant engagement without requiring user action.
- Making support readily available while allowing users to dismiss it when needed.
3. Close Mode
Behavior:
- The greetings dialog remains hidden when a user visits the website.
- It only appears when the user initiates a chat by clicking the Click to Chat widget or triggers greeting actions.
Best for:
- Displaying the greetings dialog only when the user interacts with the widget.
- Allowing users to initiate conversations on their terms.
